Snow Peak Brewing Company, established in 2017 by co-owners Matt and Crystal Spenner and Doug and Cari Naugle, was created with one goal in mind: to give the community a place to gather and enjoy. Matt, Crystal, and Doug grew up in the Stayton area, while Cari hails from nearby St. Paul—making this truly a local venture.
A Favorite Memory
When asked what one of their favorite memories from Snow Peak was, Matt chimed in, “A night when the band Best Day Ever played to a packed house. Just as the music paused, a Domino’s delivery guy walked in. Matt called out, “Let’s hear it for Domino’s everybody!” The crowd erupted in cheers, and in a moment of pure spontaneity, the delivery guy dropped into the splits like a gymnast. The room went wild. Someone even ordered another pizza just to see him do it again! It’s these random, joyful moments that make Snow Peak Brewing more than just a brewery—it’s a hub for laughter and connection.”
Why Community Matters
“Without our community, we would be nothing,” says Matt. Historically, breweries were gathering places for news and conversation, and Snow Peak embraces that tradition. Their mission is simple: to be a welcoming space for everyone. People often ask, “How’s the brewery doing?” Matt’s answer: “Come down and see for yourself. If you’re here, we’re doing better than if you weren’t.” In these turbulent times, Snow Peak Brewing remains committed to being there for the community—whatever the need. Cheers to that!
Giving Back
Snow Peak Brewing proudly supports local causes and events, including the Santiam Hospital & Clinics Foundation River Run and partnerships with First Responder Therapy Dogs through Sublimity Fire Department. “We’re lucky to be part of such meaningful efforts,” Crystal shares. Their commitment to Santiam Hospital runs deep. Snow Peak Brewing has been a gathering place for not just the community, but also Santiam Hospital employees—hosting team-building events and providing a place to unwind after long days. During COVID, that support continued, and Snow Peak is honored to give back whenever possible.
Looking Ahead
Snow Peak Brewing stands out because it’s authentic. “We put ourselves into everything we do,” says Matt. From craft beer names to trivia nights, originality is key. They want newcomers and seasoned beer lovers alike to feel welcome—and to know that what’s in the glass is truly them. The brewing industry faces challenges, but Snow Peak is determined to adapt and grow. Their vision? To keep being that fun, welcoming spot for the community while expanding their reach far beyond Stayton. “We want people 500 miles away to see our logo and feel pride that our community is represented,” Matt explains.
